1) How does the  This Is America  video meet the key conventions of a music video? It meets the key conventions of a music video as it contains dancing which can be seen as a performance based video, props including guns, cars, musical instruments, lip-syncing and music, it contains a narrative.  2) What comment is the video making on American culture, racism and gun violence? This video is trying to show the audience that this is what America is like, people are getting shot and no one is doing anything about it. Racism and gun violence is "normal" because it happens so frequently in America. The people who are getting shot in this video are all black people which suggests that in America black people are "targeted" as being the criminal but also the victim. 1) What is the purpose of a music video? Music videos sell products for example the song featured in the video. It also sells products such as: the album, film, tour and merchandise.  2) How has the digital age changed the production and distribution of music videos? Before the digital age, audiences were given full access to the product. The song was available at specific times in places approved by the record company such as on weekly TV chart countdown shows like Top of the Pops (1964-2006,BBC). However, the development of new technologies meant that music videos and songs were widely available at any time. Videos could be uploaded to websites such as Youtube and viewed on different devices such as phones or laptop when ever and where ever the audiences felt like it. Development of technologies led to new platforms for videos to be consumed for free, this meant that people would be less inclined to buy a physical copy of a song. 3) Which three major record labels are behind VE
