Mise-en-scene task

In this picture we can see that there are two very different costumes: one which is very robotic and futuristic and the other that is futuristic but heroic as well. There are a few people who are wearing the same costume where their faces are hidden suggesting that they all do the same job and work for the same person. Their costumes have shiny metallic look enhancing the futuristic robot aspect of it. The other actor who looks like he is on a mission is wearing  long drape over his shoulders suggesting he is from another region than those storm troopers. That actor looks like he ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time suggesting he is a good-hearted character. The lighting suggests that it is quite early in the morning for these people, but also the setting suggests that this has been set on another planet suggesting to someone who hasn't seen this film that it comes under the Sci-fi genre. Also, in the background, you can see these futuristic dystopian buildings enhancing the surrealism of the setting. All the people visible in this still image either has a gun or a sword/saber. These props have been made to look very futuristic to support the setting and costume.

It trailer

The costume of the clown is very distinctive because of the exaggeration of it's facial expressions and features. The make up has been used to enlarge his forehead to make it look abnormal and terrifying but also the use of the make up under his eyes brings out the fear in people. The costume for the clown has been made to look very dirty and old so that it fits in with the story that he has come back after a long time to feed on children because he is hungry. Also, the use of the red balloon is very significant throughout the trailer because the balloon represents Pennywise the dancing clown suggesting that he will be present throughout the film. The use of the balloon is important because it shows the clown is an important character but also that the balloon itself is significant. The fact that the ballon is red suggests that the creators want to bring fear into people but it also connotes violence and bloodshed foreshadowing what will happen in the movie. The lighting through the trailer was mostly dark lighting suggesting that there is a lot of suspense being built up so that the audience would have to go the the cinemas in order to find out what happens. One of the settings seen in this trailer is the basement which is a typical setting in any horror movie foreshadowing a terrible incident that will take place.

Jumanji trailer

Compared to the previous trailer, this film falls under the Action/Adventure/Comedy where as 'IT' comes under the Horror genre. At first, the costumes are those of typical high school students but when they become apart of the game, their costumes turn into more of an adventurer who is going on a journey. The actors costumes include their bags and weapons suggesting that they are on mission/journey away from home and they are prepared for it. However, the costume for the female character is objectifying her because it is quite revealing and short which suggests that they are trying to attract a male audience. The setting is placed in a jungle throughout most of the film which is completely opposite to 'it' because there were several different locations in the film and some were typical horror film settings such as the basement. However, in this film contains a scene in the school basement but it is not terrifying like the one in 'it' because there was much more bright lighting so everything was more visible.

Guardians of the Galaxy trailer

Compared to the previous two trailers, this film falls under the genres of: Action,Comedy, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Adventure and Superhero. All three films have completely different genres and storylines making the unique in their own way. The costumes in this trailer seem quite futuristic and their weapons do as well. Some of the actors in this film are mutants from another planet because they way they look. The use of make up is important because it has made the actors look like they are from out of this world and look like aliens. For example, the female has green skin and weird looking face make up to give her an alien look where as in 'it' there was just the clown that had a different looking costume compared to the other characters. The setting is significant because this film has been placed in outerspace where as 'jumanji' and 'it' are placed on earth just in different locations.
