Star persona video feedback and LR

Feedback given by me

Tiago

WWW:  Good use of text at the beginning of the video, The music matched the pace of the video, The setting was good because you had a plain background so there were no distractions.

EBI:  if makeup artist wasn't covering the model's face at times and the ending where the camera zoomed in and out was more smooth.

Annya

WWW: Very good editing because I couldn't tell that there were different shots, loved the change from fast pace to slow motion as I wasn't expecting that.

EBI:  Similar to Tiago,  try to make the camera work a bit more smooth when zooming out.

Aran

WWW:  The editing was really advanced, a range of effects and transitions used, the music went well with the video, good choice to zoom in on a portrait filmed video!, nicely used slow motion at the end so it gives the audience time to look at the detail of the make up.

EBI:  you kept the same song and replayed it or tried to speed up the video so it matched the songs duration, also the fact that you zoomed in was good but during the beginning the model's face was slightly cut off from the bottom.

Saira

WWW:  good use of sound because the song had matched the pace of the video, the pace was correct because you could see the whole transformation of her face within the song duration.

EBI:  if you filmed landscape instead of portrait that way you would be able to see more of her face and the details clearly, also if there was a plain background there wouldn't be any distractions.

Shareen

WWW:  a clear transformation is seen in this video, the ending was good because you went from a still shot to having camera movement to show the finished product.

EBI:  you used more advanced transitions and effects instead of simple ones like 'sliding doors' or 'spiral'

Shania

WWW: well done for using some transitions and creating a time lapse video, the pace was accurate and matched the song.

EBI:  there was more lighting because the lighting that came from the back created shadows and you couldn't really see some of the detail on her face.

Reflection

1) How did your star persona mood board planning help clarify and develop your ideas?

The mood board helped me decide what sort of persona I exactly wanted to create, it also gave me the chance to explore a few different ideas.

2) Thinking technically, how could you improve your work for future videos? (E.g. filming, editing, sound etc.)

Due to certain difficulties we had to film the video portrait but next time I will film landscape. Also, if there was more lighting so the audience can see more of the detail in the frame and if I used more advanced transitions and effects because I used very simple ones within my video.

3) Thinking in terms of mise-en-scene, what were the aspects of CLAMPS you used effectively in your video?

I think the only one I have used effectively is 'Make up' because we got a person who knew what they were doing with it and who could produce what we were asking for.

4) What aspect of mise-en-scene (CLAMPS) could you have improved or done differently?

I think I could improve on all of them except for make up because the model didn't have a costume or any props, the lighting and setting was not accurate but the positioning of the model was accurate.

5) What have you learned regarding the importance of mise-en-scene to character, narrative and star personas?

It is very important because that is what creates and supports what ever you are trying to produce, you need every aspect of mise-en-scene to convey your idea and have a good looking product.

6) Finally. thinking conceptually or creatively, how could you improve the content of your video work in future? (E.g. planning, creative concept, timing etc.)

I would plan ahead so I have time to figure out costumes and props but also think about what time of the day to do filming so that there is enough natural lighting for the video.
