Media Award tasks


Out of Mind 

 In my opinion, 'Out of Mind' had a really good narrative about a girl who was trapped in an unknown bubble, this made it very intriguing for the audience as both the character and audience were unaware of her surroundings. The actress was a really good performer and stayed in character throughout the whole film which was significant because she didn't lose her focus whilst filming. There was use of many different shots and scenes helped keep the audiences attention instead of them feeling bored just staring at one lengthy shot. The fact that the video started at the hospital gave the audience an insight as to what has already happened or what will happen next.
Earthquake

I really enjoyed watching this music video as it was very captivating and the music was well complimented by the editing. The cinematography was very good because there was a variety of shots and angles used to create this video, for example, high to low angle shots or having a handheld camera effect to show an earthquake sensation. The use of these different shots and angles truly gave it a professional effect and made the audience believe that this was filmed by a very skilled person. The editing was the most intriguing aspect because it was done to suit the title and the song 'Earthquake,' which made the audience feel like they too were present in the filming and in an earthquake.

Overall, 'Click' was my favourite film showcased at the awards. The cinematography was excellent and the editing was of very high standards and looked professional. The narrative was very unique about a group of males trying to acquire a lot of money with one male with a supernatural ability to stop time. The slow motion used at the beginning grabbed the audiences attention when the 'click' occurred and kept hold of their attention throughout the whole film. The fact that the mise-en-scene included the props and costumes complimented the film and helped bring it to life and feel more realistic. The actors stayed in character through the whole film which was a positive aspect because it showed that they were being serious and had maintained their focus.

Mise-en-scene task

In this picture we can see that there are two very different costumes: one which is very robotic and futuristic and the other that is futuristic but heroic as well. There are a few people who are wearing the same costume where their faces are hidden suggesting that they all do the same job and work for the same person. Their costumes have shiny metallic look enhancing the futuristic robot aspect of it. The other actor who looks like he is on a mission is wearing  long drape over his shoulders suggesting he is from another region than those storm troopers. That actor looks like he ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time suggesting he is a good-hearted  character. The lighting suggests that it is quite early in the morning for these people, but also the setting suggests that this has been set on another planet suggesting to someone who hasn't seen this film that it comes under the Sci-fi genre. Clockwork Orange (1971) The director is suggesting that that the family is quite obnoxious, every chance they get they will start to argue and cause a commotion. The family is immature and violent as they start to fight in public. The director has used fast paced non diegetic sound such as a voice over as well as contrapuntal sound. The use of classical music played over a fight scene suggests that it is humorous and that things like this have happened before. It also suggests that their family is not taken seriously by many people because they seem to be very violent. The variation of pitch from high to low added a quite dramatic effect but also added tension to the scene, while the classical music calmed the viewers at the same time. Funny Games (2001) The director is suggesting that this family quite modern and accepting of all sorts of music. To what extent do the  representations  in Capital reflect the  concerns of modern 21st century London life?   [25 marks] To some extent I agree that the representations in Capital reflects the concerns of the modern 21 st  century London life. Capital provides us with a range of representations that vary because of people’s social class, ethnicity and wealth. These representations focus on some concerns such as immigration, wealth and job security. Within the opening scene of the flash back, the audience are shown Petunia’s past and how things have changed since then. The passing of time suggests how society has changed and developed over the years and how London is now made up of several different cultures. London is presented as quite diverse and accepting of people with different backgrounds and suggests that this is because of the increase of immigration.
